"Yesterday was my husband's birthday and my son, Curtis, played Happy Birthday to his dad. It is the first time I have heard him since he began taking lessons with you (He never wants to show me how well he plays music!). He is doing great. Thank you, Cameron."

F.A.Q

Who is Cameron?

I am a professional musician and educator. I have performed at the Grammy Awards Ceremony, on Grammy-nominated recordings, and won national musical awards, and hold a Masters Degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. With over 10 years of experience teaching privately and at various institutions, such as the Manhattan School of Music Prep in New York City and Montage Arts in Orange County, I have taught all ages and skill levels to learn the joy and value of personal musical growth! I highly encourage asking lots of questions and believe it's important to have fun in the process!

What is your teaching philosophy:

Music has been shown over and over again to provide many positive benefits such as improving creative thinking and problem solving, developing discipline, and increasing the ability of the brain to adapt and change over the course of one's life. The best place to start is with private lessons, where the student can receive personalized instruction that accelerates the learning process.

I employ a highly individualized teaching approach for each student. What is the goal of lessons? What will motivate the student to practice and really enjoy learning the instrument? The answer to these questions build a foundation for lesson structure and aim to make lessons a rewarding experience.

How much do lessons cost?

Rates vary according to lesson topic and lesson length so please send an email to Lessons@CameronSummers.com to get an immediate price quote and schedule a time. Rates also decrease when purchasing lessons in bulk to encourage committment to learning. To make you more comfortable in determining if lessons are for you, the first lesson is FREE!

Do you teach children?

Absolutely! I have taught many children, some as young as 8 (or 70!) years old. I believe music is an important tool for a child's development, which is supported by a great deal of scientific research. I also believe in working with parents to make the most out of lessons for their children.

Back

Do you teach adults?

Yes! I have students who are working professionals, devoted mothers, and retirees who want to enrich their life through music.

Back

Is my child old enough for lessons?

Depending on the instrument, children can begin lessons as young as 5 years old. For some instruments that require more physical strength, like the trumpet, I recommend the student be at least 9 or 10 to begin lessons.

Back

Where is your Studio?

My studio is located in Buckhead.

Back

Should I take lessons with you or through a music lessons company?

I have worked for several music lessons companies and they simply forward the students to me and raise the prices of lessons for you. It is much simpler and more cost effective for both of us to take lessons directly with me.

Back

How long are lessons?

Lessons vary between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the age, preference, and skill level of the student.

Back

How do I pay?

Payments are made online through Google Checkout for security and convenience.

Back

Is there a minimum number of lessons required?

Although payment is made for each month of lessons, to give yourself reasonable assessment of whether lessons are right for you, I recommend committing to at least two months. Give yourself a chance! No one masters any artistic skill in just a few lessons.
